Material Handler

Pay: $15.00 – $23.00 Hour

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Forklift Operator/Laborer. We are a structural steel fabrication shop that handles raw steel material up to 60′ long. The ideal candidate will be responsible for operating forklifts and being involved with incoming and outgoing materials to facilitate the efficient movement of materials within our distribution center. This role requires a strong understanding of our facility operations, safety protocols, and effective materials handling practices. THIS POSITION IS NOT EXCLUSIVE TO FORKLIFT OPERATION.

Duties

• Operate forklift to load and unload materials safely and efficiently.
• Perform truck loading tasks using hard copy pick lists along with RF scanners (soon to be implemented) to ensure accurate inventory management.
• Assist in shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all items are accounted for and properly documented.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with OSHA standards.
• Conduct Routine inspections of equipment to ensure safe operation and report any mechanical issues.
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to optimize workflow and improve operational efficiency.
• Engage in heavy lifting and materials handling as required by the demands of the job
• Support additional warehouse functions as needed, including using angle grinders when assistance is needed to clean up processed parts and assisting the lead operator when needed loading semi trucks with structural steel.

Experience

• Experience as a forklift operator moving large bundles and stock length materials is a plus
• On the job training/forklift certification is available if needed.
• Management experience is a plus. Candidates with proper understanding of our procedures have potential to move into a shipping/receiving manager role.
