Junior Estimator
Summary
Since 1937, Rosa Mosaic has been a specialty contractor installing terrazzo, tile, and natural stone in a variety of buildings in our region, including many signature architectural projects. The Junior Estimator (JE) plays a key role in Rosa Mosaic’s preconstruction process by supporting the development of accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for commercial flooring and countertop projects. This role collaborates closely with project managers, vendors, architects, and clients to ensure high-quality proposals that reflect our craftsmanship and attention to detail.
This position is ideal for someone early in their career who is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to build expertise in construction estimating. The JE reports directly to the Senior Estimator.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial
flooring and countertop projects based on architectural drawings and specifications.
Analyze project documents (plans, specs, and addenda) to fully understand scope
and identify key details affecting pricing and execution.
Develop cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services
with a focus on accuracy and completeness.
Request and evaluate vendor and supplier pricing to ensure up-to-date cost
information.
Attend pre-bid meetings and job site visits when needed to clarify scope and
confirm project conditions.
Prepare bid proposals and assist with budgeting for negotiated projects.
Maintain and update historical cost databases, unit pricing, and estimating tools.
Collaborate with project management and leadership teams to evaluate bid
opportunities and support pricing strategy.
Provide technical insight and suggestions for value engineering when appropriate.

Qualifications
Minimum of 1-3 years of estimating experience in commercial construction,
preferred.
Experience in carpet, resilient, tile, terrazzo, stone and/or countertop fabrication
industries is a plus.
Excellent mathematical and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
Proficiency in estimating and takeoff software (e.g., Measure Square or similar
tools).
Competency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with ERP systems.
Experience with CAD software is preferred but not required.
Adept at being clear and concise with verbal and written communications.
Undergraduate, trade, or design school education preferred, or equivalent work
experience.
