The Field Superintendent reports directly to the Operations Manager (OM) of the Company. The Field Superintendent will work in the day-to-day jobsite operations of the company and provide field supervision for all the Company personnel on projects assigned to the Field Superintendent.
The Field Superintendent will be responsible for all materials, equipment, personnel assigned to the project and for representing the Company on each jobsite when working with representatives of the general contractor/construction manager, other job site contractors, project owner, architects and designers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Arrange to visit job sites for projects under contract prior to the Company mobilizing to each job site to confirm the job site conditions are in place so the Company can start its work.
Maintain good communication with general contractors to confirm areas will be sequenced in proper order to insure our maximum job site productivity.
Coordinate with the general contractor/construction manager that adequate means exist for material offloading and building access.
Confirm the location and availability of power, lights, water and dumpsters on each job site.
Assist in scheduling jobsite material and equipment deliveries.
Schedule installation crews with the OM to meet weekly installation
schedule projections
- Perform layout and installation of tile, terrazzo and natural stone in accordance with Company shop drawings and industry standards.
Provide and communicate clear directions to the Company personnel on the jobsite.
Train and supervise junior mechanics, finishers, apprentice mechanics and apprentice finishers to ensure their work conforms to shop drawings and established industry standards.
Maintain performance records for jobsite personnel to be submitted quarterly to the OM so performance evaluations and progression from apprentice to finisher to journeyman can be conducted and documented with each employee.
Attend mandatory jobsite subcontractor meetings as project requirements dictate.
Write and submit daily project performance reports as required.
Write and submit job safety analysis reports and daily safety log as required.
Immediately relay to superintendent for the general contractor/construction manager any out of project scope changes required by jobsite conditions or requested by the owner/customer so these can be addressed for pricing and schedule impact as may be necessary.
Maintain a current inventory of jobsite supplies and tools.
Arrange for security of the Company’s materials, supplies and tools.
Train all employees in proper material handling, lifting techniques, and electrical
safety.
Enforce and promote OSHA safety standards and compliance by conducting Tool-Box Safety Talk at the beginning of every project and at least once per month on each job site.
Return Tool-Box Safety Talk Sign-In Sheets to the OM.
Enforce Company’s Employment Policy and jobsite operational rules.
Promote Company’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values.
Review weekly time sheets prepared by each employee on assigned project and confirm accuracy of time sheets with the OM via Field Ease.
Track and work to maintain/improve budgets established for each project
